Eden hazard was the hero of the match as he scored a brace in Chelsea’s 2 – 1 victory at home over Manchester City in Wednesday’s Premier League clash.
Shortly after Hazard scored the opener for the Stamford Bridge side through a slight deflection from Vincent Kompany, Aguero scores the leveler. Hazard then followed up with the rebounded winner after having his penalty kick saved by Willy Caballero.
In an open game at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea took the lead when Azpillicueta pulled the ball back to Hazard which was swiftly followed by a first-time effort took a slight deflection off Vincent Kompany and past Willy Caballero in the 10th minute.
Man City later controlled possession for the majority of the first half. A Thibaut Courtois’ error gifted the away side an equalizer. He mishit the clearance to David Silva and the Spain international broke through and shot at goal but Sergio Aguero tapped in the equalizer following a Thibaut Courtois save.
The Chelsea goalie redeemed himself two minutes later when he saved a one-on-one attempt from Leroy Sane.
Nonetheless, Fernandinho gifted Chelsea a penalty and Hazard restored the lead in the 35th minute from a rebound after Caballero had saved the initial attempt from the penalty spot.
After the break, chances were limited at both ends but Hazard could have done better in the 76th minute when the ball was pulled back to him in the box but he put his effort over the bar.
Manchester City had two great chances to draw level in the closing minutes when Aguero, after being picked out by Nolito with a dinked ball over the top had a go at goal but Courtois made a smart save from close range. From the resulting corner, John Stones put a clear cut chance over the bar in front of goal.
